DIY Reversible Pattern Face Mask Tutorial

Last Friday, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommended that we wear cloth masks when going out in public.

Amidst the COVID-19 (corona virus) outbreak, it’s very important that we protect ourselves.

Though this DIY mask is made of cotton materials and would not provide 100% protection against the corona virus, it definitely helps to create a barrier and highly reduces hand-to-face contact.

In addition to wearing your mask, be sure to practice social distancing and properly wash your masks after each use.

DIRECTIONS:

Step 1. Cut two 6.5” x 5.5” squares of both fabric

Step 2. Put prints with the right sides facing together

Step 3. Draw the curved edge on both fabric and sew along the curved line

Step 4. Cut out the full pattern leaving about ¼” of seam allowance

Step 5. Clip small lines along the curved edge to allow the fabric to be turned inside out easily

Step 6. Turn one of the fabrics inside out and place it inside of the other fabric

Step 7. Open and sew the long sides of the fabrics

Step 8. Turn the fabric right side out and iron along the long sides

Step 9. Fold the ends of the fabric inwards about ¼“ and iron it

Step 10. Add the ends of the 7″ elastic on the sides of the mask

Step 11. Sew alongside each edge to secure the elastic

Step 12. Wear your cool DIY mask 😀
